Spinner Rings at Salt Way Silver

Having ancient origins, “fidget” or “Spinner” rings are believed to possess mystical powers and were often used for protection and good fortune. The spinning motion of the outer ring and the “fidgeting” action of turning it is believed to calm the mind and reduce stress. Fidget rings are open to a variety of designs. You can use a mixture of materials, choose from assorted wire shapes and sizes, and add a personalized texture to the metal. This three-hour class will teach you the necessary silversmithing skills to design and make your own spinner ring. Students with no jewellery making experience are welcome, although this class does involve some accurate measuring and working with small parts. There will be a maximum of 4 students and a lot of close support during the class. You can choose from a variety of widths and sizes for your ring design, therefore you pay for the weight of the silver you use. You will learn to use tools to cut, bend, texture, solder and polish silver wire and sheet in our fully functioning Droitwich workshop.

Hi. My name is Jonathan Kettle. I love to teach people how to make their own silver jewellery! I run evening classes, 1:1 sessions, weekday classes and a very popular beginners class - the cake, coffee and cosy studio are important, but my main aim is for you to enjoy to the experience, and for you to leave at the end of the day with your own handmade silver jewellery piece.
