Explore the science, art and history of soap-making, learning techniques for making handmade soaps that are beautiful, eco-friendly and easily recreated. Make traditional herbal washballs and experience the cold-process method, using plants from our surroundings and ingredients sourced from the plant world. Jonathan Code has been teaching and making soap for over twenty years. He has taught soap making in schools, colleges and public workshops both in the UK and abroad. As well as being an expert soap maker Jonathan is an environmental educator, researcher and author.

Alongside our core learning programme, our Sunday craft programme is an opportunity particularly for adults to learn or practice a craft with one of our wonderful local craft practitioners.

No, this workshop is suitable for beginners
Our barn is on a working community farm. The car park is on uneven ground, and can get muddy so firm footwear is recommended. The barn space is a workshop space, with a concrete floor. We have small heaters in the room and we aim to ensure the space is kept warm, but please bring layers! And suitable footwear to be comfortable.
Yes, there is a farm car park next to the barn. Please note this is a working community farm, and the car park is on uneven ground which can get wet/muddy (but is hard standing). Please bring suitable footwear to navigate!
