Jewellery Making Workshop with Kam Longia

X

Description

Rings are an ideal introduction to Jewellery making. They are simple, fun to make and cover many basic techniques. In this class we will be making stacker rings - thinner rings designed to be worn as multiples on a single finger.  In the morning, we will make some simple silver bands that we will decorate and embellish to individualise them in the afternoon with inspiration from the surrounding landscape. Kamal Longia is a Craft Educator with The Nailsworth Community Workshop, instructing people with learning difficulties and home-educated young people. His particular focus is in silverwork.  In 2020 he stepped away from a career in software to be more present at home; while pursuing interests in crafting, community-building and activism. He's parent to two young people who have home educated since the start. Kamal embraces the concept of lifelong learning - acknowledging the richness that comes with learning crafts organically, and following one's passions!
