Sew and Make Baggy Pyjama Bottoms Ages 10-16 years Allerthorpe/Pocklington
Description
A fantastic opportunity for children to learn how to sew and make their own clothes! In this exciting session we show children how to upcycle a duvet cover into a pair of comfy pyjama bottoms! A great way to learn about creative reuse and sustainability. As well as learning a practical skill at the start of their sewing journey. In this session children will learn how to cut from a pattern, make hems and seams, and add an elasticated waist! They will learn how to use a sewing machine safely and measure and make their trousers fit. No sewing experience required. Threads, patterns, trimmings, basic equipment and sewing machines provided. Please send your child with a duvet cover (single size or larger). We have limited ironing space, so please send this with them ironed and ready to use. An all-over pattern or a stripe or plain works well. Please avoid single/large motif designs. Cotton or polyester/cotton mix will be best for pyjamas. Please avoid any satin or shiny fabrics as they can be difficult for children to sew. We will always bring spares just in case! If you are unsure, please feel free to contact us. We will contact you after booking to check the pattern size required so we can have this ready (you will need to so a simple measurement of your child) Session led by a a qualified teacher. FAQs
It depends on the session - please read the course listing. As a general rule, courses advertised for ages 8 years + will be a drop off and collect, although we do allow parents to stay if they feel their child would benefit from this. For courses aged 5 - 8 we usually require a parent or adult to stay with the child as this will likely be a family session.
