Come and join your tutor in the beautiful setting of the Walled Garden at Southlands Arts Centre, West Drayton, to learn the basics of producing new plants for your garden at minimal cost. Sue Williams will demonstrate propagation techniques and guide you through different methods of plant propagation in Spring. Sue has over 30 years experience of Horticulture with propagation & essential botany being her special areas of interest. With a group of volunteers, Sue is assisting in the rejuvenation of the Walled Garden where large amounts of plants are required to fill the huge space and different propagation techniques are used. Come and join Sue to ask as many questions needed to assist you in the beautiful world of horticulture & follow tricks to assist you to create numerous plants for your own garden. No experience is necessary. You will learn about: - Which (multi purpose) composts to use? - Vegetative division & soft tip cuttings. - Seed sowing techniques. - Prep & aftercare. - An introduction to basic horticultural Latin. - An explanation on plant life cycles, plant groups/classifications & equipment required. Bring a pad & pencil. You may want to bring your own gloves (gardening &/or latex) & secateurs & a box or plastic bag to take home your cuttings. You will have several 9cm pots. What should you wear: Dress warm for all weather & with suitable garden footwear. In inclement weather we will be in the Arts Centre. If the weather is with us, we will work outside. Tea, coffee & biscuits will be offered at the beginning, and there is a cafe on site if you would like to buy lunch or bring your own & sit in the garden.
