Powertex 3D Sculpture Highland Cow Head - by Inky Escapades
Description
Come and create this fabulous Highland cow head sculpture. This is a TWO SESSION workshop. We will be using Powertex Stone Art Clay and fabrics to sculpt the finish (hair/fur). Anyone with a reasonable degree of dexterity can create this. No experience necessary. The Highland cow is a quite challenging subject because of the repetitive nature of adding the hair. This is a long day, it will finish between 5/5.30pm. This workshop also requires a 1.5 hour colouring session, approximately TWO DAYS or so later. It is advisable to complete this project over two days to allow for drying times. Please let me know when you would like to book this SECOND date in via the 'message the tutor' button. I will lead you through creating the armature, then adding cotton threads. We will use stone art clay to cover the armature, and for the features. You will then need to leave your cow with me overnight to allow to dry before colouring. I am happy to facilitate this in an evening, if you prefer. In the second one to two hour session, I will show you how to colour the Highland cow using pigments and water based varnish (this is the wow factor)! NB: THIS IS A TWO SESSION WORKSHOP. NB: This is also available as a video tutorial, please enquire via the 'message the tutor' button. Let me introduce you to the wonderful world of Powertex: It is a water based, non-toxic and environmentally friendly, universal medium. It is a liquid, essentially a paint and glue combined, and it is a fabric hardener, used to create 2D or 3D sculptures. Where possible I use recycled products and recycled fabrics. I haunt the charity shops for 100% cotton clothes to use in my art works. I also use broken jewellery and often re-cycle and re-purpose many items. I will supply all materials, including gloves & aprons, since Powertex is a messy, but extremely creative business. I will guide you through the construction/creation of the piece and the colouring process. Workshops start at 10am, break when all the wet work is done, so they can be dried off, and then we start the colouring, this is where the magic happens! Sometimes workshops exceed the finish time by as much as an hour, please allow for this when booking.
