There is nothing quite like capturing the essence of a person in paint. This workshop provides step by step tuition in the fundamentals of portraiture and how to structure a face. Learn to see tonal values and to mix accurate and beautiful skin tone using a limited palette. Clear instruction on how to use paint effectively and boldly and the importance of composition and complimentary colour use. Once bitten by the portrait bug you’ll never be the same again! All reference will be provided. If you would like to bring your own reference, it must be a clear, high resolution image and of a good size. What to bring: 4b pencil, rubber and putty rubber Palette knife size 22 or similar Canvas paper or canvas board 12” x 16” (30 x 40cms) Selection of flat, synthetic brushes in a range from 4 - 12 One small round brush size 2, for detailed work Rags or baby wipes (biodegradable) Oil painters will need Liquin original painting medium and sansoder or zest it low odour thinners Paper tear off palette pad for oil or acrylics Fine mist spray for acrylics Paint to bring (either oil or acrylic) Cadmium Red Cadmium yellow Ultramarine Blue Titanium white Cerulean blue Permanent Rose Raw Umber Art Suppliers: Jacksons Art supplies CassArt

Terms - Fee is payable on booking. If, having booked, you cancel your booking, we are unable to offer a refund. However, you may nominate someone else to attend the workshop or class in your place. We reserve the right to cancel a workshop up to 48 hours prior to the workshop date. We will only cancel due to insufficient places sold and you will be refunded the full amount paid.
