Make a Pewter Pendant - Wax carving, mould making and cast in pewter.

Description

This workshop goes through some of the basic principles of carving a wax model, making a rubber mould, casting in pewter and finishing processes such as filing, emerying and polishing. The day will start carving a wax pattern for pendant and this will then be used to make a two-part rubber mould. You will then use your mould to pour pewter into and cast your pendant. You will then file, emery and polish your pendant so it is ready to wear. You will also take home the wax and rubber mould so you can make more of the design if wanted. Fleur can do these on either a weekend or a week day. TUTOR - Fleur has worked with pewter for 30 years, designing and making her pewter homeware and sculptures alongside running workshops. She is also the author of Pewter Design & Techniques published, by Crowood Press, so has experience in a variety of pewter techniques to share. It is not necessary to have any experience either working with metal or carving the wax as Fleur will guide you through the whole process step by step. This is a great opportunity to experience working with pewter and creating your own unique piece. For safety reasons Fleur asks that you wear a long sleeve top and no open shoes while pouring the molten pewter.
