Description
This is a compact set often bought as a taster kit to try out linocut and print before investing further in this creative hobby. Put together by an Artist, this makes a great gift for someone who never tried lino printing before. Everything you'll need to complete a project is included from designing to cutting your lino sheet and printing a card, no need to find anything extra at home. Check out my shop for all our kits and supplies to meet every budget. As an printer myself, I use these items in my own work. I’m Catherine an Artist based in Liverpool UK. I also teach in person workshops teaching print techniques. All my kits are put together by myself & 2 local artist friends. Together in my art studio we unpack deliveries, check everything is clean & working, carefully wrap and package, stamping by hand as we go. I am keen to keep a 'handmade' feel to my kits, the same as with my artwork & workshops. Linocut & print is a relatively easy skill which gives great results almost immediately. Kids around age 11 upwards (supervised) enjoy this activity as a fun introduction to The Arts. Make this as easy or difficult as you like, choose your own skill level & learn at your own pace. Allow yourself an hour to cut, another hour to print and you'll produce something exciting!
What's included in the price?
KIT includes these items: 1) Artist quality lino sheet size A6, 15x10cm 2) Lino cut tool handle 3) 5 cutting blades - watch my YouTube to see how each cutting blade produces a different mark! 4) Black colour ink pad by high quality Japanese brand Tsukineko. No need for inks or roller, here you can use the fast drying ink pad to print your linocut design. 5) Design templates x4, these are my own artwork designs which I already cut and printed with, includes Midnight Garden, Lighthouse, Terry turtle, Twin Moons. Coming up with an idea is often the hardest part, here you can copy a design template and focus on technique. 6) Tracing paper to transfer a design from template to lino using pencil (use your own pencil) 7) Step by step written guide - full instructions with handy tips!! or alternative is to watch my videos....also included is a mark making exercise sheet to help you get started with simple lines and shapes to copy. 8) 1 x 15cm x 15cm square white card with envelope, print your design onto here to see how it turned out!
What you will need
pencil & scrap paper, flat table, good lighting, time for yourself (no kids, pets ...) everything else is provided in the kit, a stamp pad here avoids the need for ink and roller, so no sink is needed.

Clever Hands is a small business & Art Studio based in Liverpool UK run by Artist Catherine Carmyllie. When the pandemic hit, creative classes at the studio had to pause. Catherine began sending out arts materials by post so that her students could continue being creative at home. Since then the business has grown and has 3 learning options: purchase a kit online, visit the studio in person or watch the video tutorials free online, learning at your own pace. Catherine also exhibits & sells her own artwork.
