Printing a design onto fabric can be tricky if you don't know how! We have put together this creative kit with everything you need to get started and complete a block printing project onto fabric. This creative and educational set provides you with the skills and confidence to go on and print further textile projects such as T shirts, wall art, table decorations, napkins... Aimed at a complete beginner and also somebody with some previous print or creative experience, this kit makes a great gift. We pack with care and attention at Clever Hands Art studio, our kits have a welcome card that provides an introduction to block printing, about the kit and video tutorials, and also about our small business & art studio in Liverpool UK.
What's included in the price?
1) sturdy eco friendly card box with label made from block printed fabric, each kit has a handmade small batch feel. 2) Full written instructions, a guide to help you get started with tips and hints from myself as a print artist collected from over 20 years of printing experience 3) plain cotton square tote bag to print onto. We include a plain white and also a colour. Usually the colour is random unless you specify which you prefer in the personalisation box. 4) fabric scraps, test out your skills before starting on a project 5) a wooden hand carved printing block (design will be random, see images for similar designs). Other textile print block sets are available to buy in my shop, add them to your order we will pack these together. 6) block printing ink by Uk brand Essdee, choose your colour from the menu. We include a single tub of colour however you can add other tubs from my shop and we will pack them together. 150ml water based and mixable. Please note inks are for use on fabric, not paper (this ink is a more runny consistency to allow it to work with a textile base) it requires a few days of drying time after printing before using a hot iron on the reverse of your print to activate the special print recipe and make it 'fixed' or fully permanent onto the textile. You are then able to wash by hand or washing machine. Full ink instructions provided on the tub! 7) a sheet of neoprene, you will need this to place under your fabric when printing to make sure the print block has good contact with the fabric surface 8) A4 white plastic tray, a place to dab and mix your inks. If you have different colours, mix them on here, a mixing spatula is also provided. Excess ink can be easily put back into your tub for later. 9) foam dabbers for application

Clever Hands is a small business & Art Studio based in Liverpool UK run by Artist Catherine Carmyllie. When the pandemic hit, creative classes at the studio had to pause. Catherine began sending out arts materials by post so that her students could continue being creative at home. Since then the business has grown and has 3 learning options: purchase a kit online, visit the studio in person or watch the video tutorials free online, learning at your own pace. Catherine also exhibits & sells her own artwork.
