Maker
Johny Todd is an established master designer-maker, based in Stafford. Since creating his first full collection of handmade products in 1994, Johny has established a diverse range with a strong and distinctively unique feel. Among his notable creations are a bespoke handmade watch brand and a range of premium handmade leather goods, which have showcased and sold throughout the UK, Europe and globally. His work encompasses an array of items such as bags, cases, purses, wallets, leather aprons, book covers, watches, and various accessories. All products can easily be tailored for both men and women, often simply through bespoke alterations, colour changes, or customisations. His ethos is a fusion of traditional methods & tools, alongside contemporary design and re-invention, producing designs that are distinctive, original and of high quality. The use of premium materials, alongside the attention to detail in the handmade process, provide a superlative workmanship which is central to his brand’s ethos. Renown for the quality of his handcrafted and bespoke leather products and the handmade watch brand ToddWatch, Johny has also been an instrumental part of establishing the unique, independent artist-led project in the centre of Staffordshire’s County Town - Woodings Yard Studios (recently renamed as simply WY). Integral to the whole studio/workshop project are the creative sessions where people can make versions of some of Johny Todd’s products in an immersive and often very therapeutic environment.

Please be aware that you are entering a busy working studio environment and that there are inherent hazards.
There will be a short introduction to relevant safety considerations as part of your workshop which must be adhered to at all times.
Your workshop will start no earlier than 10:30am - so its important to try to arrive “just-in-time” - there is not any
access to the studio if you arrive earlier than this. Our shop also opens at 10:30am
The workshop usually takes approx. 4-5 hours (including breaks) and we will aim to complete
everything during this time.
.
The workshop session will be deemed complete no later than 15:30 in any case, but if after this time you have not
completed the work, you will have the option to buy thread and needles to complete things at home if needed (this is
an unlikely scenario as most people complete things in the alloted time).
Most workshop sessions we offer will last all day and so you are welcome to bring your own packed lunch, but there are also a few food venues located in town near to ourstudio.
Please note that we do not allow the consumption of hot food within the workshop space, but there is a 1st floor lounge area at the studios, accessible by stairs, that you are welcome to utilise. Tea, coffee and microwave facilities are available in the lounge.
Our friends and neighbours in Woodings Yard run ‘Candid’ (a cafe and bar) which may be open if you would like to purchase hot and cold soft drinks whilst you work from around 12:00
Craft beer, gin and wine is also available all day, but we do ask that you are mindful of the need to maintain a safe workshop environment. Excess alcohol consumption may curtail your completion of the workshop. Sole discrtion on this point lays with Johny Todd Ltd. as the workshop provider.
You will receive an automatic confirmation from Craft Course when you make a booking, but if you also provide contact details, such as email and mobile telephone details, we will contact you ahead of time with further details and timings for the day/session.
While we do not have parking on site, there is free on-road parking nearby, or paid car parks even nearer.
There are disabled parking bays very near, but this is on a first-come basis only.
