This self-paced, online course will give you all the information and knowledge you need to get set up and weaving some basic techniques, and you can do all of this from the comfort of your own home. The course is available on its own, or with a weaving starter kit, which comes in nine different colour-ways, and includes everything you’ll need to get set up and weaving. So what are you getting? - 14 different sections (pdf's, all supported by instructional videos), from sourcing materials and setting up the loom, through four different weaving techniques, to finishing, and weaving on a budget. - A tutor with 15 years of weaving experience who is passionate about sharing her love of textiles through teaching. Once you have purchased the course, your enrolment details to access the course will be sent to the email you provided at the checkout.

ELKA is a weaving and natural dye studio based in Hampshire. Ellie spent a large part of her childhood living abroad and travelling. The vibrant markets of the Middle and Far East triggered her passion for colour, texture and pattern and this influence is expressed through her textiles. She completed both her BA in Textile Design, specialising in woven textiles, and MA in Design for Textile Futures at Central St Martins College of Art and Design, graduating in 2006. After graduating, she moved back to Winchester to set up her weaving business which she has been running full time since 2015. In 2018 Claudia (Ellie's mum) started working with the business to produce naturally dyed yarns for Ellie to weave with, and to sell on our website. If you are too far afield to join us on an in-person workshop, we have a growing range of online self-paced courses which have been designed to get you confidently weaving and natural dyeing from you home.

"I recently attended the 2 day table loom workshop and needless to say it was an amazing experience. I wanted to learn the basics of weaving for my work and it was just what I needed. "This 2 day course exceeded my expectations! A lovely venue, small (just 4) class size, and most importantly an excellent tutor. Ellie’s enthusiasm, along with clear instructions kept each of us going at our individual pace. The time flew by, and we all learned so much- from choosing from a wide range of coloured thread, to warping the loom, to learning lots of different kinds of patterns on our sampler. My daughter and I attended the course together and had a thoroughly enjoyable and creative experience. For me, returning to weaving, having learnt 56 years ago (!), was an absolute joy. The whole process I would describe as therapeutic in that it can ignite parts of the brain as well as the body that may have been underused. Certainly that’s my experience. I highly recommend this course, and Ellie is a passionate and very encouraging teacher!"

"Fabulous two day table loom workshop, from warping to cloth. A well structured two days with clear instructions, and an opportunity for each participant to go at our own pace. Ellie is very patient and has a way of keeping things simple and easy to understand, which meant the task of warping the 4 shaft loom was a calm and enjoyable experience and one that I feel confident that I could repeat independently. The class size of 3 meant we all got so much support and guidance. Once the loom was dressed, the second day was spent exploring weaving patterns. All materials were included in the course fee and we were spoilt for choice. I was delighted that beautiful naturally dyed threads were available to use as well as organic cotton and linens. I am so pleased I invested in this two days, definitely great value and a good kick start for anyone wanting to get into weaving. Thank you Ellie! "

I like that I have a course for life with all the materials available to look back on.
