Green Wood Furniture Making and Steam Bending - 3 Day Course in South Devon

X

Description

A three-day course learning the skills and techniques of green woodworking and the magical art of steam-bending. Three days will give you more time to take on something a little more ambitious than the two-day introduction, and you will learn the basics of steaming wood to bend it into different shapes. You will learn to make a simple stool with an elegant steam bent rail. Starting with a fresh cut log you will learn how to cleave the wood with a froe and wedges, then shape it on the shave horse with drawknife and spokeshave. You will learn to cleave and shave accurately to a given size to make a rail. This will be steam bent, and incorporated into the design. All timber supplied on this course is locally sourced. This course is suitable for beginners and intermediate learners of green woodwork wishing to take things a little further. The course is run in my wonderful workshop by the sea.

What's included in the price?

Tea, coffee and biscuits are available. Bring your own lunch, there is a microwave and toaster available. The workshop is situated in a very beautiful valley in the South Hams. The sea is about 10 minutes walk from the workshop. There are great places to stay, including some very lovely self catering cottage accommodation within 5 minutes walk. There is usually a small charge of around £10 to £20 for board material, i.e. seats or table tops. You are welcome to bring your own materials if you have them.
