Description
One day fully guided step by step structured course ideal for beginners to design and make a wet felted picture/wall hanging of an 'Enchanted Woodland'. It will be approx. 40 x 40cm when complete, ready for framing or hanging. It will be made using mainly wool fibres with some additional plant fibres to create different effects. Full instructions and demonstration step by step working together to create the 'Enchanted Woodland' scene building the picture onto your pre prepared (provided) wool background. Use selected colours of different shades of wool and plant fibres discovering how to blend colours together using carders. Learning how to layer the wool and some plant fibres to build up the woodland picture. Followed by a demo on how to wet felt it all together using water and soap to harden up and complete the felted picture. The finished "Enchanted Woodland" picture will be complete as a felted picture/wall hanging at the end of the course, when dry it will be ready for framing or hanging on the wall. However it can also be further decorated with needle felting details and embellished with embroidery on another workshop or I can provide a small kit for you to take home. The course is for a maximum of five people. The workshop is held in the Birchcliffe Centre in Hebden Bridge which is well known for its wonderful mix of independent shops and cafes should you wish to stay in the area. There is free car park, a Railway station and a regular bus service which stop right outside the centre. It is a fully accessible building. It will be run by highly experienced fibre artist and tutor Josephine Gornall and held in her warm studio which is in the historic Birchcliffe Centre nestled above Hebden Bridge near woodland. The studio is full of my own wet felted framed and unframed fibreart and felted sculptures for inspiration.
