Description
Dates for the 3 day courses are: - Fridays 20th, 27th September and 4th October In this series of workshops you will learn to "read" a commercial pattern; what all the markings mean, how you transfer them to your fabric, how you adjust a pattern to your own size. We will deal with all the fitting issues you may have and then adjust the pattern accordingly and make a toile. Once we have a beautifully fitted mock up we will concentrate on cutting your final garment and stitching it up. This class is not like sone other classes which focus primarily on making, I am passionate about fit and learning to alter a pattern to make it work for you, which can also include altering the neckline, darts, sleeves etc. This is a very comprehensive class! There will be a choice of patterns to make, I will email you when you book as you will need to decide which one you want to make before the class so I can order the patterns in. The price for the whole course is for 3 x 5 hour classes and includes the use of machines, tools, threads, the pattern for you to take home, the fabric for your toile, but not the fabric for your final garment. We will discuss what you need before the first class. You may want to bring a notebook although there will be handouts in the form of my sewing handbook too. This is a small group class (2-3 students) so there is plenty of one to one attention, whilst learning in a fun unpressurised environment with and from other students. You do not need to be a whizz on the machine, this class is fine to take after the beginners or zips class! I have been teaching sewing classes for over 13 years, I am passionate about sewing and teaching and believe anyone can sew. I am also passionate about fit and will help you achieve a great fitting garment by teaching you how to alter your pattern to fir your beautiful unique body. My classes are small (maximum 3!) and friendly and held in my dedicated studio in my garden. I also have shorter courses dealing with knit fabrics as well as class making clothes for kids. Please see 'more from this maker'.
