This exciting weekly course is for anyone who is interested in developing their creative skills. Often people want to paint or draw but just don’t know where to start! This course will provide the opportunity to learn the basics of painting and drawing in a practical, friendly and supportive atmosphere. The course takes place over 5 weeks on Tuesday afternoons, 2.5 hours per session. Would love to do more courses!" - Kay - No previous experience is necessary just a willingness to have a go! - Step by step demonstrations - Variety of mediums to explore - Paint/sketch along with your tutor - Refreshments included - An opportunity to make creative new friends! - Absolute beginners are recommended to to join Clare's Introduction class before joining this course Weekly topics and skills covered in the ongoing classes - Sketching techniques - Mixed media drawing - Colour mixing, brush control - Acrylics and Watercolour - introducing different techniques - Work will be inspired by still life arrangements, photographs and the work of other artists. - Observation and composition All paints will be provided but you will need to bring the following: - An A3 sketch book to keep all your work together - A basic pencil case with sketching pencils and rubber - An old top as some weeks we may get messy (although aprons are provided) - An old rag/kitchen roll for keeping brushes clean - A Stay-Wet palette like this one or there are plenty of homemade versions on the internet using an airtight container. - Alternatively a disposable palette like this one - Brushes suitable for acrylic and watercolour – System 3 Acrylic 500 Longhandle Brush Set 5 Pack - This set will be suitable for a beginner to use for watercolours and acrylics. As you get more experienced you may wish to get a separate watercolour brush set.

Sadly not - due to the nature of the materials our classes are for adults only.
Yes.
With all one-day and longer stained glass classes we include an info pack with details of the tools you've used and suppliers plus reminders of techniques used. This isn't included in half-day classes.
We'll be delighted to help you decided what's needed.
For fusing classes we're happy to advise on tools, materials and kilns on request.
Materials are included in all beginners classes - fusing and stained glass.
Please bring reading glasses if you use them, and sturdy fully enclosed shoes (no sandals).
Aprons, googles and gloves are provided where needed.
Because you will be using lead and solder containing lead on stained glass classes.
Lead is known to pose a higher risk to babies than to adults.
We welcome participating friends or partners.
Sadly there isn't room at most classes for non-participating friends or partners.
Of course!
Fused glass will need to be collected after firing - we will contact you when ready.
This depends on which class you're planning to book.
For stained glass classes - it will be difficult to complete the class if you have severe arthritis or similar.
For fused glass classes - we suggest you choose a class which doesn't involve glass cutting - feel free to contact us to discuss.
If the class you're planning to book is described as 'for beginners' then yes!
Some of our classes are for improvers - these are described as such in the listing.
We have GF and Vegan biscuits in stock normally.
We will bring in non-dairy milk if advised in advance.
Lunches, where included, are provided by the Bell Cafe nearby which caters for intolerances, vegetarians and vegans.
