Creative with Clay - Ceramic Coiling & Botanical Vases - Blended Monkey

X

Description

Suitable for children 14+ accompanied by an adult. You'll spend the morning of this relaxing & creative session learning how to create a piece of your own design using the coiling method - a very meditative and mindful process. After lunch you'll go on to create two large botanical/your own design vases using the slab and sprig method – you can bring along your own botanicals (grasses, flowers etc.) from your gardens or surroundings if you wish, but I will bring along enough for everyone in any case. This method of making with clay uses rolled slabs which are cut to size, botanicals pressed in and then vases created using a former. The pieces can be simple or elaborate. I will show you how to attach “sprigs” to the finished vases to create extra 3D effects if required. The whole procedure will be explained from start to finish by me, and also with the aid of real-time footage on a large screen showing each step up close. I will then take all the pieces back to my Blended Monkey studios in Upwell where, once dry, I will glaze them in your chosen colours and fire them. The pieces will be returned to the Farmland Museum for collection. The workshop is taking place at the lovely Farmland Museum & Denny Abbey. Their fabulous Docky Box Tearoom has some truly scrumptious food to tempt you at lunchtime - plenty of yummy treats, so you won't go hungry. Remember to pre-order your meal when you arrive. This would make a fabulous CRAFTY GIFT for someone 🎁

Blended Monkey is a husband and wife team. Our studios are based in a small village on the Norfolk/Cambridgeshire border. Our setting provides ample inspiration for our work, and is perfect for our woodturning & pottery courses. Louise (ceramicist) - I studied at the Falmouth School of Art & Design and I am interested in various art forms, design and applied arts.
