Description
Join multi-media artist Jo Pudelko for a day of creative play. In this enlightening and inclusive day of sketch-booking, you’ll explore your inspirations and discover the basic principles of the design process. This accessible workshop is perfect for anyone, whether you’re a hobbyist or a professional, a crafter or a fine artist, or simply curious about unlocking your creativity. No prior drawing skills or artistic experience are needed—this is all about taking your ideas and influences, and transforming them into meaningful sketchbooks and source materials relevant to your own interests. Throughout the day, Jo will guide you through simple yet engaging exercises to help you connect with your creative flow, no matter what discipline you want to work in. You’ll learn how to harness your inspirations and influences, and develop an expressive process to bring your designs to life. Whether you’re a jeweller, printmaker, or a creative in any other field, this workshop will give you a new way to approach design development, sparking ideas and helping you refine your creative direction. We’ll start by diving into your personal interests and inspirations, then use a variety of fun techniques—such as mark making, repetition, mirroring, and collage—to explore new ways of translating these ideas into designs. Through the sketchbook process, you’ll create a sourcebook of samples and ideas that you can continue building upon for future projects. In this collaborative and relaxed environment, we’ll encourage an open, experimental approach to creativity. Mistakes are welcomed, and the group dynamic will help ease any tension or self-doubt, allowing your creativity to flow more freely. By the end of the day, you’ll walk away with a body of thematically linked design ideas and a deeper understanding of the creative process that you can apply to any medium. Whether you’re looking to refine your current practice or find your creative direction, this workshop will leave you feeling inspired and confident in your ability to create.
