Description
During this course you will learn how chocolate is made from cocoa beans. Whilst you are working through each step of the process of making chocolate, you will also learn about the history of chocolate. You will taste different types of chocolate and then make your own bars of chocolate, which you will flavour and decorate and take home with you (3 x 100g handmade and decorated bars of chocolate and 1 x 40g chocolate). COURSE STRUCTURE You will start by learning how to make chocolate, including roasting and grinding your own cocoa beans. Whilst you are doing this, you will learn how the Aztecs, believing that cocoa was a gift from the Gods, used it for medicinal purposes and how the Europeans adapted it to make the chocolate that we all love today. You will taste the chocolate as it develops during the process of making it and learn about the different additives that alter the taste of the chocolate. You will then taste some different types of chocolate and make and decorate your own chocolate bars. You will also learn how to make caramelised chocolate and use this to fill a chocolate mould. Finally, you will package your bars to take home with you.
