The course is held on Thursday mornings 10-1pm for 10 weeks from the 1st May 2025 until 10th July, with one week break for half term (29th May). It is held in a bright and comfortable hall which we share with an upholstery course. There is parking, toilets and we refreshments are included. All students will be provided with a simple antique Victorian/ Edwardian chair to work on (which they will have the option to purchase at the end of the course.) The sample chairs will be used to learn basic chair repair as required which may include, dismantling and re-gluing of joints, minor repairs, reviving of finishes and waxing etc. You will then be taught step by step how to cane a chair in the traditional six way pattern.
