Pottery hand building and throwing day workshop
Description
This taster workshop is a good introduction to the wonderful techniques of clay. You will have the opportunity to learn the basics of throwing on the wheel, including centring and throwing a pot. We will also explore how to create pattern and textures on the clay surface which will then be turned into mugs, vessels and lanterns using the slab building technique. These can also be personalised using letter stamps. We will then add some colour using decorative slips and explore some of those specialist techniques. The workshop will take place in my fully equipped studio in Poole where I design and make my own ceramic sculpture and tableware. I have been teaching for around 20 years and have a degree in ceramics as well as PGCE in Post compulsory education. Once your pieces are made, I will then fire them onsite, and they will be available for collection 6 weeks later (tbc). I can post the pieces out for an extra charge. Places must be booked as I have limited number of spaces. This is not a drop-in session, please don't come without speaking to me as I might not be able to fit you in. The workshop will cost £100 including all materials. Please contact me via the message the tutor button to book your space.
