Description

Beginners/intermediate jewellery course, 10 weeks, Monday afternoons. Course dates w/c 13/01/25 - 24/03/25 with 1/2 term break Feb 17th. This course is suitable for complete beginners or anyone with some experience with silver smithing/ jewellery making. We will cover basics in theory and techniques such as how to anneal metal, filing, forming, cutting metal with a piercing saw, adding texture, drilling and soldering, and push past into enamels, patinas, and 3D techniques. If you are a total beginner we will start with high polished soldered ring and will cover more techniques as we progress through the course. For those who are more experienced we will build on the basics each week. You will be able to design your own jewellery making earrings, a pendant and possibly a stone set ring. All tools are provided. Materials for your first silver ring project will be included but you will need to purchase material for future projects. We will cover what to buy in class this will vary from student to student depending on individual projects.

She offers one to one tuition and specialist workshop classes from her purpose built fully equipt studio Rachel Hearne Jewellery School in Lancaster UK. She was lecturer of Jewellery and Silversmithing Nelson and Colne College, Cumbria Adult Learning and Lancashire Adult Learning teaching beginning, intermediate and advanced students for over 14 years giving her experience in teaching all abilites and ages.

"My one to one class with Rachel was just what I wanted and needed. I have done a course with Rachel before. Rachel has a nice way about her which makes you comfortable with your ability, always encouraging and helping you achieve your goals . This one to one was an extension of the course I did at Halton Mill. The things I had picked up in those classes really helped me. I am pretty much a beginner and I am making bracelets, earrings and rings. My next project will be an inlaid ring. One of best things with one to one tutoring, is you pick up so much. It went so fast, which was a shame because I was enjoying it so much , hopefully I will be booking another soon.?"
