Essential Techniques: - Measuring and cutting: Using handsaws and power saws safely and effectively. - Hammering: Proper hammer techniques for various tasks. - Drilling: Selecting the correct drill and mastering drilling techniques. - Sanding: Sandpaper selection and sanding techniques for smooth finishes. - Chiselling: Woodworking joints and hinges. - Planing: For smooth, level finishing. - Problem solving: How to correct an ill-fitting door. - Building an internal door lining, including fitting a new lining to an existing opening. - Hanging an internal door to a new lining, including adjustments. - Fitting mortice locks and handles. - Fitting architrave. - Fitting skirting board. Ben Woodcraft has a distinction in City & Guilds Carpentry and Joinery, and 25 years experience managing his own Construction business.
As well as woodwork, he has experience in all aspects of the building trade including plastering, bricklaying, plumbing and electrics.
We provide refreshments throughout the day, including hot & cold drinks and snacks.
We suggest you bring a packed lunch, however if you require us to supply a lunch, this can be arranged on request.
Please wear suitable, comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting messy. Dungarees or Jeans are ideal, with a loose top.
Please wear footwear that covers your whole foot.
Please remove any hanging jewellery.
We will provide safety equipment, but you are welcome to bring your own.
