Our one day course near Reading, Berkshire will guide you from novice to confident beginner, teaching you the essentials of spindle and faceplate turning. You’ll leave not only with new skills but also your very own hand-crafted wooden toadstool and bowl – perfect for showing off your newfound talent!
What's included in the price?
- A light lunch. Please advise of any dietary requirements or allergies via the 'message the tutor' button. You’re very welcome to bring your own if you prefer. - Safety information and PSHE equipment. - A look at the lathe and basic hand tools. - Learn basic woodturning skills (spindle and faceplate turning). - Take home 2 simple items, such as a toadstool and a bowl. - Further resources. Following your session you will be sent a follow up e-mail full of useful information and resources to help you continue your woodturning journey.

Please contact us as soon as possible if you can't make your course date so we can reschedule. Be aware that our cancellation policy states you must cancel 2 weeks before the course start date to obtain a full refund
Courses are taught to up to 4 students at a time. All students will be given their own lathe, set of tools, protective equipment and materials needed for the course.
Turning generates a lot of wood shavings and sawdust so please wear old clothes and sturdy footwear i.e. no flip flops or sandals.
No hooded tops with dangly drawstrings or ties please. Also remove bulky watches, rings with stones, bangles and bracelets. Please tie back long hair.
You will be provided with a woodturner's smock for your session.
