Description
Immerse yourself in a day of creative work, learn valuable book repair skills. This is an opportunity to acquire the skills to transform your bookshelves and learn a few useful conservation techniques so you can take care of your most treasured books. I work 6 days a week at the studio as a conservation bookbinder. I'm flexible about teaching days so you are welcome to message me to request a date to book your day of tuition. I recommend bringing along a range of books. Victorian cloth back books or 18th century leather bound books are regular projects here but you are welcome to bring any book in any condition! Just email me a photo of the book you'd like to work on. This is an opportunity to work alongside a professional bookbinder as I will teach and support you through your project but also share with you conservation work that I am currently busy with. I enjoy teaching and helping people to create unusual projects. I have been working as a professional restoration bookbinder for 12 years and I have a teaching qualification as well as a post graduate qualification in Museum studies. The course is designed to be both accessible for beginners and engaging for intermediate abilities.
