ANNIE SLOAN ‘BASIC & INTERMEDIATE’ WORKSHOP ~ RIBCHESTER, LANCASHIRE This workshop is ideal for anyone who would like to know basic and intermediate techniques and skills in using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and Waxes. I have been upcycling and restoring furniture for 15 years, and I have been professionally trained by Annie Sloan down at Oxford HQ to host workshops and teach all there is to know regarding rejuvenating and upcycling your own furniture pieces. On the 3 hour course, I will firstly talk to you about the environmental benefits to painting furniture and then discuss how furniture preparation can be completely different from one piece to the next. I will also talk to you about how inspiration is key to creating the perfect painted piece and how Annie Sloans Books, Magazines and Website are great inspiring ways to get your creative juices flowing. Next we will experiment on a sample board with paint layering, brush techniques, colour combinations, white washing, texture and frottage. We will then complete the boards by distressing with different grade sandpapers and then seal the paint with clear wax and use dark brown, black and white wax, to create lovely aged patinas and to enhance textures. By the end of the class, you will go away with the knowledge and confidence to start your own painted piece at home, as-well as understanding how up-cycling is great for a more sustainable world. Hi my name is Rebecca and my Raw Furniture studio is based in the village of Ribchester, in Lancashire's Ribble Valley. I am an artist and have been painting furniture for over 15yrs. I have been professionally trained by Annie Sloan down at Oxford HQ to teach how to paint with chalk paint by hosting ‘one to one’ and ‘group’ workshops. I paint for interior design companies in the Ribble Valley, and take on client commissions.
