This workshop is your chance to learn the traditional art of gilding on glass. You'll start by gaining hands-on experience with the essential tools such as the gilding cushion, point, and knife. Under Estitxu's expert guidance, you'll master the delicate technique of applying shimmering sheets of gold and silver leaf to glass. Once you've got the basics down, it's time to get creative! You'll experiment with distressing the metal leaf to create a range of stunning finishes, each adding a unique texture and character to your work. Then let your imagination run wild as you learn to design and draw intricate patterns on the gold-plated surface, transforming it into a piece of art that's uniquely yours. At the end of the workshop, you'll have few art work sparkling creation to take home.

I am artist with over 30 years experience, who specialises in glass gilding (or Verre Eglomise as it's also known). Using both traditional and modern gilding techniques to create intricate designs in gold, silver and copper leaf, I have been commissioned all over the world to create bespoke pieces - from standalone works of art, to decorative panels or unique pieces of furniture. For the past 4 years, I have been sharing my knowledge of gilding on glass with students who range from absolute beginners to established gilders and artists who wish to take their skills to the next level. It's a joy to share my years of experience in small, intimate classes and watch students fall in love with this beautiful craft.
