Adobe InDesign is the industry standard software for designing high quality documents, rich layouts and page designs to use in print and digital publications. It has the tools to create a range of high-quality documents across both digital and print media, including advertisements, brochures, digital magazines, eBooks, flyers, interactive PDFs, packaging, posters, publications, reports and stationery. You’ll be introduced to the main functions of Adobe InDesign as well as receiving industry level tips, tricks and shortcuts, so that you can effectively integrate images and text together for maximum impact. It’s ideal for anyone looking to produce professional quality documents for either artistic pursuits or professional projects. The course is also suitable for anyone who has completed Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator courses at NTU or elsewhere, as you’ll be able to include vector graphics and place photos into your page designs. Through practical projects and demonstrations, you’ll develop your skills in the software to create visually interesting documents ready for print or to use online. You’ll have dedicated, uninterrupted study time in our industry standard Mac suites, using the latest version of Adobe InDesign software. On this course, you will: • Understand the key role of Adobe InDesign among the other Adobe applications. • Understand key typography points and use of hierarchy. • Create files for digital and print outputs. • Learn about pages and create master pages and grids. • Understand the importance of the placement of artwork and text. • Get tips on key compositions. • Create typographic style sheets. • Practice populating a file with artwork and type using key features of Adobe InDesign. • Learn how to save and export files in various formats. What will you gain? You’ll be challenged creatively with the support of a small group of like-minded people, with lots individual attention from the tutor to support your projects. By the end of the course, you’ll be confident in using Adobe InDesign to create multi-page publications for a variety of uses. A certificate of attendance will be awarded upon completion of the course. Level: Beginner Entry requirement: Whilst no software experience is required, you should be confident in saving files and basic computer functions. Tutor profile: Jason Holroyd is an award-winning graphic designer, art director and illustrator. Jason graduated from NTU with a degree in graphic design and has over 15 years industry experience, working with clients and agencies such as 4 Creative, Arts Council England and Warner Brothers Records. He has been teaching for over 12 years and is currently an associate lecturer on the NTU graphic design degree course.
What's included in the price?
During the sessions you’ll be taught the basics of each programme, with tasks and activities to complete with support from the tutor. This course will be delivered in person on Nottingham Trent University city campus. Your course fees cover the cost of studies and include great benefits such as the use of our modern library and free use of the IT equipment and software on the campus during your course. You will also need to bring with you: • A notepad and pen. • A memory stick with images you'd like to edit. • You can bring your own laptop with Adobe Creative Suite loaded (if preferred), although Macs with software will be available to learn on in the classroom. On successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate of attendance, which will further enhance your CV.

For our week-long summer school courses, we offer single rooms in shared apartments in Nottingham Trent University’s city campus accommodation, which is ideal if you're looking to be based in Nottingham's lively city centre and want an economical place to stay.
Bookings are taken on a seven-night basis, from Saturday to Saturday.
The rooms are single occupancy, with a private bathroom.
You will be sent a link to book your accommodation once you have made your course booking through Craft Courses.
We offer accommodation during the summer only. We are unable to offer university accommodation during term time (for evening and weekend courses) but you'll find plenty of places to stay nearby, as we're located in the city centre.
