Absolute Beginners Ring Wax Carving Workshop
Description
This workshop will teach you all of the basic skills you need to be able to carve a piece of ring wax, which will then be cast in silver. In three hours, we will size the ring so it fits you and play with a number of tools and techniques to make something you really love. We’ll go through all of the equipment you’ll need to create your one-of-a-kind piece, touch on health and safety, and I’ll be there to answer any and all of your questions. Before you leave, we'll discuss how you'd like your ring to be finished: whether you'd like it polished or matte. A few weeks wait is necessary to allow plenty of time for your ring to be posted off to be cast (turned into silver) and make it back again. I don’t currently have the facilities onsite to do this myself, so a trustworthy third party is taking on this role instead. When it returns, I will finish it up according to our discussion and we can arrange postage/delivery/collection of your new piece. If the given dates don’t work for you, please contact me and we’ll see if we can work something out. If you'd like to do an additional session and learn how to finish up the ring yourself, let me know and we can organise that too.

Maker
I graduated with a BA in Jewellery from UCA Farnham in 2019. I've been making jewellery using a variety of different techniques since I was 12, and knew that I wanted to go study metalwork at uni for a long time! I've been working with wax for a number of years now, and I'm now confident that I can effectively share that knowledge!
