Wax Carving for Jewellery - Make a Ring at Artery Studios
Description
Learn wax carving techniques for jewellery making in this relaxed and fun 2.5 hour workshop held this time at Artery Studios Jo is an award winning jewellery designer maker, and graduate of the Birmingham School of Jewellery who has worked as a bespoke fine jewellery designer for almost a decade. Wax carving and lost wax casting is an age old technique in jewellery making. Learn how to shape wax into a ring of your own design, which can be cast into silver or gold afterwards and finished by Jo. Sculptural by nature, you will be learning how to carve wax away fro your blank or build wax up to make your design. There is no experience necessary, suitable for beginners and beyond Students describe the workshop as meditative and relaxing to take part in :) Working with your hands enables your mind to calm whilst you focus on the task. All tools and materials provided, as well as tea and cake during the workshop. You will finish with a wax ring model ready to be cast into metal afterwards by Jo if you choose. Casting and finishing charge is an additional £35 payable on the day if you wish to, plus the weight in silver which is calculated by the weight of your piece on your day. This allows students flexibility on design and the size of their final piece. A total average cost including workshop ticket, casting, finishing and silver cost would be between £80 and £95 depending on how chunky you make your final design. Rings can be collected once finished from Jo's Worcester studio or posted out to you Please message us via the 'message the tutor' button with any queries, this workshop can be booked one to one or for groups at your own home or venue I look forward to teaching you this really accessible and enjoyable introduction to jewellery making!
