Watercolour Landscapes Day with Sunil Kalbandi
Description
Enjoy a day learning how to create evocative landscape paintings in watercolours. Sunil will start by introducing you to the basics of watercolour painting including colour theory (colour wheels, colour choices, tints, shades, tones, values, hues) and techniques for composition and perspective. He will also take you through different watercolour techniques such as washes, gradient washes, first wash, second wash and highlights, creating volumes; to make elements such as clouds look thee-dimensional, dry strokes, wet strokes, splatter and texture. Within this longer day there will also be scope for learning how to draw and paint people, vehicles, animals and trees, familiar features in the landscapes around us. Through demonstration and your own hands on experimentation he we get you painting your own wistful landscapes. During the day you will have the opportunity to paint multiple landscapes; the beauty being that you can add more details to each one depending on your skill level. Everyone will start from a photo Sunil provides, however, for this course you will be invited to bring your own photos of landscapes to work from; a beach, some fields, a forest (as opposed to a cityscape). If your image is too ambitious for a first go, Sunil will be able to advise you on how to simplify it for the class or you can use another of his recommended images.
