Description
2 Day Willow Deer Making Workshop. Spend two days in the beautiful Devon countryside learning how to work with this sustainable material. In this workshop you will be taken through the process of making your own 4ft willow deer to take home with you and display in your garden. This willow Deer is constructed from the inside out so we build the structure of the deers skeleton and observe it's muscles and anatomy to create a realistic form as opposed to a craft deer. So your sculpture will be almost solid - not hollow. The steel armature supporting it will allow you to push it in to the ground in your garden. Because these structures are not hollow they will last much longer as outer layers protect the internal structure from the elements. I give all my participants detailed information on how to treat their deer to make them last longer. I work with small class numbers so I can ensure I have adequate time with each person to help them develop their skill level and learn to manipulate the willow. If you require accommodation for the workshops we offer rooms can be booked at Lydford House for single or double occupancy.
