Description

What could be better than a relaxing summer day, learning about natural dyes and botanical eco printing in a relaxing and inspiring workshop at my home in south Liverpool and its well stocked garden. Guided by Maggie Pearson, an experienced botanical printer and teacher, you will learn the principles and practice of botanical contact ['eco'] printing, about leaves and their pigments, and how to unlock their potential to create beautiful botanical prints on fabric and on paper. Having printed some samples with different leaves on fabric, you will print a stack of papers, and then a final piece of silk [or linen if you prefer]. The small group of five participants maximum enables learning to be tailored to individuals' prior experience and allows plenty of time for discussion. Normally, a workshop needs a minimum of three participants to run. People who've been on my workshops have said: "Thanks again for a brilliant workshop on Tuesday. My head is buzzing with future projects." [Susan] "Thank you very much for a great day and for all you do to help us to produce some lovely prints. Thanks too, for the lovely lunch and your hospitality throughout the day. I thoroughly enjoyed it." [Chris] PLEASE NOTE: I can recommend overnight accommodation, if required.

Maggie Pearson’s sustainable textile art is inspired by, and explores, the natural environment. She creates wearable and household textiles, printed papers and wall art with natural fibres. Maggie’s unique textiles and papers are individually designed and printed with natural processes, by steaming or simmering locally grown leaves and flowers with natural fibres and dyes. Maggie loves to spread the joy of botanical eco printing by running workshops. She takes commissions and will run workshops for your group.
