Summer Book Bag Sewing Workshop - Patchwork - Paper Piercing - Blended Monkey
Description
This half-day group workshop with our guest tutor, Alison Pritchard, is suitable for all skill levels. You will learn the basics of English Paper Piecing, a traditional hand patch working method. We will cover templates, fabrics, threads and different joining techniques that will help you get started with this relaxing process. We will be making a patch for a small shopping tote/book bag, which uses the traditional hexagon and is inspired by honeycombs. There will be plenty of bee or summer-themed fabric options to choose from, or you can bring your own fabric to try. Cotton and poly cotton are perfect for small projects likes this (try to avoid any fabrics with stretch or bulk, like velvet, corduroy etc.). We will be using big stitch applique to attach the elements to the bag, but there will be hot glue and iron-on options if needed (temporary fixes as sewing will make everything secure). Paper templates, bumble bee patches and embroidery thread/needles will be available, along with the cotton tote to affix your finished patch. A simple sewing kit will be provided, containing pins, sewing needles and neutral sewing thread. There will be equipment available to use and a small iron for basic pressing once the piece is finished. This SUMMER BOOK BAG SEWING WORKSHOP will be held in the peaceful setting of our Blended Monkey studios on the Cambs/Norfolk border. Numbers are limited to ensure you get plenty of 1-2-1 tuition. This relaxing workshop is suitable for 16+. About a week before your workshop date, we'll e-mail you again with more details about parking etc. Refreshments will be provided throughout the session - tailored to meet all dietary requirements. All students will be provided with a certificate of completion. This would make a fabulous CRAFTY GIFT for someone - so drop us a line and we can post out to you/the recipient a complimentary personalised gift certificate for this experience🎁 Suitable for 16+ The half-day workshop includes: - Materials & use of equipment on the day - Refreshments (tea/coffee/soft drinks/cake) - catering to all dietary requirements - As we limit the number of people, you get to have some 1-2-1 tuition and the maximum benefit from a day with no distractions - Certificate of completion We also offer accommodation in the form of our Crafter's Retreat cabin subject to availability or we can advise of other local B&Bs.
