Soldering Boot Camp £130.00 Soldering Boot Camp Friday April 11th 10-4pm To make clean, strong, neat connections you need to dedicate yourself to practice. This soldering boot camp will offer an opportunity to spend the day guided on tricky solder jobs including techniques of sweating, using a pick, set up scenarios, and filling your joins with the right amount of solder to become more comfortable and confident. We will focus on several types of joins and do a little problem solving to find a fresh approach to soldering pins, jump rings, bezels, a different sized pieces, etc. If you struggle with soldering, or find yourself melting components or bezels or feel yourself procrastinating before a solder job this is the class for you. To maximize your time and stay focused on soldering, there will not be a finished product, instead we will focus on repetition to create muscle memory and trouble shooting opportinities. Students are encouraged to bring any additional pieces they would like help with. We will disuss torch types, solder types, heat sinks, soldering supports, heat distrubition, fluxes, and a couple of repair scearios. Materials included in price: enough material for practice in copper with each challenge set. Students are welcome to bring in their own clean prepared materials like gold, argentium or silver. Please note you will need to bring in appropriate solders for metal you use. Please arrive 15 min before the start of class. More details will be emailed 1 week before the class. She offers one to one tuition and specialist workshop classes from her purpose built fully equipt studio Rachel Hearne Jewellery School in Lancaster UK. She was lecturer of Jewellery and Silversmithing Nelson and Colne College, Cumbria Adult Learning and Lancashire Adult Learning teaching beginning, intermediate and advanced students for over 14 years giving her experience in teaching all abilites and ages.
