Sewing kit: make a historically-inspired tie-on pocket with hamblemouse
Description
Sew your own historically-inspired tie-on pocket with this complete sewing kit. Modern clothing contains pockets that are mostly useless, but our ancestors had it sussed. They wore big roomy practical beautiful tie-on pockets and it's high time we brought them back! I've created a pattern and a kit with everything you need to hand-sew your own tie-on pocket (you can also use a machine if you prefer). Keep everything to hand, and NOT falling out of the (probably tiny) pockets in your clothes while you get on with your day. You can wear it over or under anything - just tie it round your waist/hips or tie it messenger-bag style. Show it off! I've designed this project to be as easy-to-follow as possible, with no complicated stitches, and loads of full-colour pictures in the instruction booklet. Enjoy some stress-free sewing and make yourself something beautiful and useful at the same time! You'll get a piece of colourful cotton fabric for the pocket front. The lining fabric will be plain cotton, chosen to match/contrast with the front. The back fabric will be unbleached natural cotton. Iron-on interfacing, linen tape for the waist ties, sewing and embroidery thread are all included as well. Feel free to message me if you see a specific fabric you like in my photos. I only use remnants and offcuts of quality fabric, so there are limited amounts of each fabric available. Once it's gone it's gone, but I'll do my best to find you something you like.

Maker
I'm a lifelong sewist specialising in hand sewing, who got sick and tired of how awful the pockets are in modern clothing, and decided to do something about it. I started making and wearing historically-inspired tie-on pockets with my everyday clothes, and it was a revelation! I had room for my stuff! As hamblemouse, I create sewing kits, patterns and courses to help people make their own beautiful, useful tie-on pockets, whether hand-or-machine sewn.
