Sewing For The Terrified

Have you always wanted to learn how to sew, but are terrified by the thought of it? Maybe you're frustrated that you don't know how to take up a pair of trousers, alter those curtains or just want to start making clothes that fit you perfectly. Book onto this course, and you'll learn the basic techniques that get you there. This course is designed to teach how to set up, thread, and use a sewing machine. It will teach you all of the necessary skills to build your confidence and lead on to making various small projects to take home. Learn a number of different stitches and techniques, e.g. how to turn old fabric into a sampler quilt, cushion, throw, or even a simple skirt! Expert tuition from 'Queen of the seam' Jacqui McKoy-Lewens. Come on your own or bring your Mum/Dad or child (8yrs upwards) with you to learn side by side. These are family based, life skills for adults, boys and girls, who will all enjoy and benefit from this class. EXTRA INFORMATION: The day includes a short break for lunch. Homemade cookies and a selection of teas and coffee provided. Bring your own serviced sewing machine. Or you can hire one for an additional £5. Please email to reserve a machine as we have limited numbers. Sadly there will not be time to work out why your own sewing machine isn't working, so please try to ensure it's in full working order beforehand. LOCATION: Pink Alpaca Studios are based in the village of Disley, near Lyme Park 2 minutes from the train station, in picturesque Cheshire.
