Hey there, lovely people! A bit about me; I'm a proud wifelet (husband's pet name), a supermum to 5 grown kiddos, and a Nanna to 2 adorable grandkids. Out of the whole crew, only two are artsy, and even they need a nudge to pick up the craft supplies! Except for my law apprentice daughter in London, we are all settled here in charming Warwickshire, and my art cave sits within an area of our garden along a rustic lane in Leamington Spa. I'm a self-taught artist having discovered I really could do it late in life and having sprinkled in a few courses to level up my skills, I created The ARC Shed because I'm determined to help others find their dormant creative side. I whip up a bit of magic using acrylic paints and Powertex universal medium, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. I'm a firm believer that we're all born to create beauty, and I'm on a mission to show you how fabulous your projects can be with these mediums too. I also firmly believe that art, at whatever level, has a truly positive impact on our mental health and wellbeing, and research is catching up on recognising this. My painting style? It's a little dance between Folk Art and Decorative Painting - and spoiler alert: you can totally master this art form too and I can show you how! Powertex is my secret weapon, and is a fantastic medium that unlocks endless creativity, the only limits are your imagination. It's messy, fun, and with the majority of the products being water-based there's no nasties lurking around to irritate your skin, or the environment. This year, my workshops are going rogue - I'll have set dates, but you can also pick a slot that suits your busy schedule. No FOMO (fear of missing out) on creativity here! I'm all about sharing my crafty wisdom and guiding you through each project step by step in my little studio. Virtual classes might be in the cards soon, as long as the tech side plays nice! Take a peek at my socials, blog, and online store, and give me a shout with any questions or hit me with a virtual high-five. Let's get creative together, this year. 😊

FAQs

Although it is water based and non toxic Powertex is essentially a fabric hardener and once its dry it will not wash out of your clothes. Whilst this is a really fun and versatile product to use, if you are anything like me it's likely to get a little messy and any unnoticed splashes or spills well become permanent so:

Please DO NOT wear your best clothing, including footwear.
Please DO NOT wear rings and/or bracelets especially if they contain precious stones.

Gloves (powder/latex free) and aprons will be provided but I cannot guarantee these will protect everything.

Unless specifically stated in the workshop description, everything you need is provided including refreshments of tea or coffee but you are welcome to bring your own speciality or decaf alternatives.

All products and materials required to complete your project, gloves and aprons will be available to you.

If you are spending the whole day with me then please bring a packed lunch or you may decide to treat yourself to a light lunch at The Gardener's Retreat cafe on site.

Yes, there is a large parking area which is a little uneven. The first 60 minutes are FREE, thereafter it is only £2 for the whole day.

Regarding disable access the following information has been taken from Hatton Shopping Village's own site:

What disabled facilities do you have, and what is access like?

When you first arrive at Hatton Country World you’ll be directed by signage to our disabled parking area. All the paths around the shops are concreted and most shops are easily accessible. For those shops with a step, ramps can be provided. Within the Adventure World again the paths are all either concrete or ‘hard standing’. Some shows do take place on grass.
