Description
TwinMotion is a powerful real-time visualisation software, which allows for the importation of 3D assets/CAD designs to create dynamic 3D experiences, materials, weather patterns, and walk through animations. It’s part of a professional workflow within Architecture, Consumer Products, and many creative industries. On this course you will learn the basics of TwinMotion and be introduced to modern visualisation techniques and gain an understanding of how you can incorporate real-time environments into workflows used across creative industries such as VFX, architecture, product design and fashion. You will learn and explore various methods for creating 3D experiences, from adding textures and materials to creating effortless foliage and weather effects for 2D Rendering and motion-based animations. By the end of the course, you will have the skills to be able to create 3D experiences in TwinMotion and have a completed project to add to your portfolio. The course is divided into four sections. Section one: • Introduction to TwinMotion. • Interface – menus, scenes, tabs. • Using transformation tools and traversing the workspace. • Why knowing your asset size is important. Section two: • Importing and manipulating objects. • Adding assets from the library. • Materials and textures – creating and applying digital textures. • Applying weather and foliage. Section three: • Rendering – setting up the camera, lighting and environment. • 2D image renders. • Motion based animations – walk throughs and camera movements. What will I gain? By the end of the course, you will have the skills to be able to create 3D experiences in TwinMotion, add texture to your models for a realistic effect and have a completed project to add to your portfolio. Level: Intermediate / Professional Entry requirement: You should have experience of working in a creative environment, but no formal qualifications in design are required. Basic computer skills essential. Tutor profile: Sarah Kay Beardsley started her career in London as a freelance model-maker. She then developed her digital skills and began working at both Nottingham Trent University and Ravensbourne University London, teaching additive manufacturing, CAD/CAM and Rhino3D. Sarah has taught digital fashion with BA students, and helped NTU become one of the first universities in the UK to present a digital-only fashion collection which appeared in Forbes, Vogue and WWD. She has been a co-developer and trainer of 3D digital language, asset, and environment creation (Blender3D, Rhino3D & Photogrammetry) for many years, helping her students to navigate the ever-changing digital world.
What's included in the price?
During the sessions you’ll be taught the basics of the programme, with tasks and activities to complete with support from the tutor. This course will be delivered in person on Nottingham Trent University city campus. Your course fees cover the cost of studies and include great benefits such as the use of our modern library and free use of the IT equipment and software on the campus during your course. You will also need to bring with you a notebook, pen, and USB stick to save all your files and work. On successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate of attendance, which will further enhance your CV.

For our week-long summer school courses, we offer single rooms in shared apartments in Nottingham Trent University’s city campus accommodation, which is ideal if you're looking to be based in Nottingham's lively city centre and want an economical place to stay.
Bookings are taken on a seven-night basis, from Saturday to Saturday.
The rooms are single occupancy, with a private bathroom.
You will be sent a link to book your accommodation once you have made your course booking through Craft Courses.
We offer accommodation during the summer only. We are unable to offer university accommodation during term time (for evening and weekend courses) but you'll find plenty of places to stay nearby, as we're located in the city centre.
