This weekly session is for people with experience or beginners to come along and have a go at silver jewellery making. Experienced tutors Elaine and Mel are on hand to guide you through the process of making your very own unique piece of jewellery. We usually recommend starting with a ring. More experienced people can use the equipment to make their own pieces. All equipment is provided but we ask for £5 to cover gas/solder etc. and then silver material is charged at an extra cost. Approximate cost of a 10cm length of silver to make a simple ring is £7. We have a small amount of stock materials available to buy on the day. Prices £5 entry to the workshop with use of an experienced tutor and equipment for two hours £5 covers the cost of solder, gas, flux etc. - payable on the day £7 (approximately) for the cost of silver to make a ring. Payable on the day The sessions will run every Thursday from 1pm to 3pm. We run with a maximum of 6 to allow us to provide assistance whilst you make an exciting piece of jewellery. If you enjoy this session and wish to continue with jewellery making then we encourage you to buy your own materials.

What's included in the price?

All equipment and tutoring. Materials charged at extra cost. Tea and coffee provided for the first session, then donation of 20p is welcome.

1986- Unemployment was high. Members of the Adult Unemployed Centre expressed a desire to use workshop facilities. As school roles fell under used accommodation was identified. In April, a project submission was put before the Dukeries Complex Council of Management and a steering group was set up. Establishment of a fourteen-week pilot scheme to commence in July. This was successful. Today in 2023 we have over 150 users and are open 5 days a week and Monday/Tuesday Evenings
