Oval Basketry two day workshop. Shopper, Trug or Laundry Basket
Description
On this 2 day course, you can choose between making a traditional oval shopping basket, garden trug or laundry basket. Never again will going shopping, picking beans or hanging up the washing feel like a chore! All of the basket options will start off the same, with an English underfoot oval base, followed by waling and randing in the sides, rod border and a bow handle or finger holes. The willow is from the Somerset Levels. Various natural colours will be available for you to choose from. Previous basketry experience or being practically minded will be an advantage for this course. Course taught by Jane Welsh.

Maker
I have been basket making for over twenty years and have been working professionally and running courses in traditional basketry for the last 16 years. I feel ardently about protecting the knowledge of our traditional rural crafts that are so much a part of our heritage. My background is in arts and crafts. Having studied art, design and furniture making, worked in traditional timber framing and dabbled in stone masonry and stained glass, I then became hooked on basket making.
