Natural Dyeing Exploring Tree Dyes with the Woodland Haberdasher
Description
A lovely deep dive into the world of natural dyes through the lens of tree barks and leaves. Good for both beginners and those looking to further their knowledge, we will work with a variety of tree tannins and how they can be applied to maximize their colour potential, as well as the variabilities across both animal and cellulose fibres, and also look at some of the more yellow tones that come from certain leaves and some specialist berries. Find out about how different fibres, methods and mordants can be used to fix and alter colours through discussion and practical experiments. Use pre-prepared baths to dye woollen skeins and fabric swatches. Learn from Fay's incredible wealth of knowledge on the natural world and processes of dyeing.
