Description

A weekend course suitable for complete beginners who want to create a metal sculpture for their homes and gardens. I run this course with fellow sculptor Mick Kirkby Geddes, we've both been professional sculptors for over 30 years. We run the course from our studios at Sculpture Lounge - a converted mill on the outskirts of Holmfirth that is the home to 21 other different creatives. We work with a maximum of four people to enable as much contact time as possible. The course has a relaxed and informal atmosphere and is aimed at building confidence with materials and equipment. We guide you through the various stages of making a sculpture using both recycled and new steel. We will introduce you to MIG welding, plasma cutting and various power tools to enable you to make your own piece of sculpture. Other equipment and techniques can also include wire and riveting.
