Metal inclusions in glass

X

Description

When metal leaf, shim, wire and mesh along with fibres and enamels are encased within two pieces of glass and then subsequently fired at a high temperature, the oxidisation produces some beautiful rich tones and interesting textures. This course will teach you all you need to know about combining metal and glass and the various effects that are achievable. You’ll also learn about the kiln-firing process, the basics of cutting and shaping glass and to be able to recognise which is the tin side of float glass. No experience is required for this fascinating process, and you’ll produce your own wall hanging and set of coasters.
