I’m Judy, a fashion designer with a passion for sustainability and craftsmanship. I have a BA in fashion design with marketing from UEL, and my career has spanned various areas of the fashion industry. I spent two years working alongside an Italian tailor, honing my skills in meticulous pattern cutting and garment construction. I also worked for for two major fashion brands as a Buyer’s Administrator for three years, where I witnessed firsthand the overwhelming issues of overproduction and waste in fast fashion. This experience was a true eye-opener, and it deepened my commitment to combating these problems in the industry. In addition, I spent three years working in a fabric shop, gaining invaluable knowledge of textiles and materials. Ultimately, my experience led me to create JaM, my own made-to-order fashion brand. At JaM, I design and construct each piece in-house, creating unique JaMsuits (signature jumpsuits). Every garment is crafted only when ordered, ensuring minimal waste and promoting a more sustainable, thoughtful approach to fashion. Through my workshops, I aim to pass on my industry experience and technical skills, offering participants the tools to explore pattern cutting, garment construction, and sustainable fashion practices that align with the values of conscious creation, with the added fun of having a lovely time!

FAQs

There is a cute retro caravan that sleeps 1-2 people available onsite (The Old School Campsite) free of charge for 'one to one' bookings (subject to availability). There are also glamping bell tents in the summer and camping pitches available onsite. If camping isn't for you (!) there are lovely holiday cottages at 'Shelve Holidays' or a luxury cabin at 'Heather and Stone'.

No need to bring anything with you for your course or workshop unless you want to bring examples or inspiration ... but there are plenty of both here in the studio (surrounded by the beautiful Shropshire Hills) so you can just bring your lovely self!

I normally start at 0930hrs but as I only take individual bookings I can be flexible with timings (subject to availability) to suit you.

I only take individual bookings so there will only be the people you choose to book for! This means I can make sure the workshop is exactly what individuals and groups want and everyone gets more out of it.
