Description

Four week introductory course in making silver jewellery. Four Thursday mornings 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th January 2024. This course is designed for people with little or no experience of silver jewellery making or for those with jewellery making experience. Learn about basic tools, workshop practice and traditional jewellery techniques for working in silver. For beginners in the first session you can expect to make and finish a simple band ring in the morning and go home after the first morning wearing a silver ring you have made yourself. Then you will move on learning to texture metals and cut out sheet silver to start to make a pendant or a pair of earrings in the second session. You can then choose what you make from a great range of set projects such as setting stones or sea-glass, have a go at enamelling, or follow your own ideas in the remaining sessions. All tools are provided, silver will be charged at cost, for beginners following recommended set projects this will probably be around £25.00 - £35.00 for the course. People with experience of silver jewellery making will have the course tailored to their level. You will be able to further your skills and learn new techniques during this course. Please let Cathy know at the time of booking if you are not a beginner. The workshops are held at my studio in South Hooe on the Bere Peninsular near Bere Alston. If is in a very peaceful location and there are views of the River Tamar from the studio. The group size is small, so you will have plenty of individual attention. The time is 10am - 1.00pm (with a short morning break, refreshments provided) All tools are provided. Silver used will be charged at cost. Following booking you will be sent an email with directions and details of what to bring. Please note that this course requires a minimum number of participants to run. If your course is not going to run you will be offered an alternative arrangement to suit or a refund. The course fee is for all four mornings.
