Description

Make a luxury wreath using foliage from a garden nestled in the hills of the Pennines, providing a beautiful natural habitat for wildlife and a peaceful space. Anthea Thornber uses her garden to grow flowers and foliage throughout the year. She cuts and dries these treasures for all her floristry and wreath making workshops. You will be spending a few hours creating a Luxury Christmas Wreath, a lovely treat to adorn your door and spread the Christmas cheer to anyone visiting or walking past. Using a traditional willow weaving method, you will create a stunning willow wreath up to 12 inches wide. There will be a range of freshly cut or foraged foliage like holly, Christmas tree and pine cones available for you to use, along with some tips and techniques Anthea has picked up over the years of making Christmas wreaths. We aim to be eco caring in our methods and materials and it’s an opportunity to learn about alternatives to more commonly used materials that may be harmful to our planet. With wreaths the possibilities are endless so come and enjoy exploring what’s possible. No prior experience needed but you must have good mobility in hands & feet & be able to stand whilst working

Maker

Hi my name is Joe Gregory, I'm a willow basket maker and sculptor based in West Yorkshire. I started weaving as a hobby in 2004 and by 2008, I realised I could make a living doing a craft that I loved. Starting from my kitchen table to now owning a 5 storey Georgian building in the centre of Todmorden; weaving with Willow has provided me with the most rewarding career whilst enabling me to keep my family safe and healthy. I teach sculpture and basket making for everyone from beginners to more advanced weavers. I have also been lucky enough to teach internationally, as well as up and down the country. I've worked on some amazing projects over the years and feel very lucky to have found this beautiful craft. I am comfortable teaching children; beginners and more advanced weavers. Each class rewards me in different ways. I have been fortunate to teach those with different needs; from sight problems, to people returning from a stroke, to those with their own special needs. I am always happy to craft my class to suit everyone I teach.
