Description
Come and discover linocut printing in a beautiful large studio located in the centre of historic Lewes. Combine the graphic relief printing process of linocut with hand coloured tissue papers and vintage books and magazines You will have the option to use either soft cut lino or Japanese vinyl (A5 size). Once your lino design has been planned and carved, you will spend the rest of the day printing multiple prints using non-toxic AKUA soy inks. You will have the opportunity to develop your work and ideas by incorporating hand coloured Chine Colle tissue papers and collage elements taken from vintage books and magazines. Please note: this course is for single cut lino (not reduction printing). This one day course is suitable for both beginners and those wishing to revisit or develop their printmaking skills. I encourage an experimental approach to printmaking alongside tips for continuing your work at home.

The train station is approximately 15 minutes walk away, and the nearest bus stop on Lewes high street is approx. 3 minutes walk.
I suggest you bring an apron or old shirt to protect your clothes as printmaking can be messy. Gloves and hand wash are provided.
Visual resources are provided for every class including printmaking examples and reference images, although there is no ‘theme’ as such so you can explore whatever subject you choose. The studio is located upstairs on the first floor of an old timbered building. There is a stair lift if required.
