Description
This course is great for beginners, no previous experience is required, just an interest in leather working. The workshop runs just outside of Tunbridge Wells in Withyham with your tutor, Thom, who has over 20 years experience working with leather. In this one day course we aim to introduce you to leather working and the core skills needed to progress with this enjoyable and satisfying craft. During this course we will cover topics including: Types of leather Tools used in leather crafting Cutting and patterns Decoration, using tools and stamps Fixings and finding Stitching, including saddle stitch Finishes and edge burnishings These topics are discussed as we work through 3 small projects designed to cover all the basic techniques. The projects are for you to take home: A coin pouch A card holder A keyring If you have your own tools you are welcome to bring them and we can cover any questions you have about them. If you wish to bring your own tools, please let me know prior to the course.
