Take a leap into the world of art journaling for wellbeing. This is an artistic way of documenting your life within the pages of a journal – using words, pens, paint, and collage to express yourself. Over the next few weeks, you will get tips on painting, doodling with purpose, and composition, plus reminders that there are no rules. 12 Week course; 3 hours per week, Monday evenings. Week 1: Intro session, simple bookbinding to create a wellbeing /creativity /mindfulness book. Choose three affirmation words for the front of the book. Week 2: What pages do you want as your backgrounds? Using different tools to apply paint to create a background Using white space to create abstract art Week 3: Shapes as backgrounds-think about shape, how they set a scene for your art. Week 4: Collagraph plates (for printing next week) small plates so they are less complex and so successful. Week 5: Printing collagraph Week 6: Wellbeing walk/sketch/photograph Week 7: Zentangling- starting with a creative task that helps you to learn to use creativity to practice mindfulness. Week 8: Typography and text Week 9: Typography and text Week 10: Small still life-draw your tools into your pages Week 11: Bitesize Botanical drawing -add a bit of floral décor to your pages Week 12: Finishing off, using your journal

At the Art and Design Studio, we run a range of relaxed and informal art and craft classes to suit A Level students and adults of all levels of ability. These range from a 1/2 day craft workshop to a 12 week course, all at our studio in Great Waltham, CM3 1DF. We also offer painting, printing and sketching holidays in the beautiful Dordogne area of France. Our professionally trained tutors Cathy and Tammy are here to help you discover your own creativity!
